• Newsletter Subscription: Our weekly digest, "Pure Gallus Clyde," is hosted on Beehiiv. If you sign up via our Beehiiv page, your email address is collected and processed directly by Beehiiv, not by us — see Beehiiv's Privacy Policy.
• Contact Forms: When you send inquiries, business claims, listing corrections, or feedback, we collect your name, email address, and message details. These submissions are processed via Formspree — see Formspree's Privacy Policy.
• Visitor Stories: If you share a first-hand account of a place via our Share Your Visit page, we collect your name, your email address (required), an optional phone number, and the story you write. This is processed and stored using Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare KV, our backend hosting and data-storage provider. See section 6 below for how long this is kept and how to have it removed.
• Usage Logs: Like most websites, we collect standard server logs, which include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamps, referring/exit pages, and click counts. This information is non-personally identifiable.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is utilized for the following purposes:

• To provide, operate, and maintain our travel directory and blog.
• To send you our weekly email newsletters (only if you have opted in via Beehiiv). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the newsletter itself.
• To respond to your questions, support requests, and business claim inquiries.
• To review and, where genuine, publish visitor-submitted stories on the relevant place's page, credited to the name you provide.
• Where you've left contact details on a Visitor Story or Contact Form submission, to follow up with you — this may include Scotreach, the company that owns and operates this site, contacting you about your submission or about a listed business. See section 6 for details.
• To monitor website traffic trends and improve overall user experience.
• To prevent fraud and maintain the security of our website.

3. Google AdSense & Cookies Disclosures

We partner with third-party networks, including Google AdSense, to serve advertisements on our site.

Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other sites on the Internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit history.

5. Third-Party Privacy Policies

Our Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we advise you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers or services for more detailed information. This includes Formspree, Beehiiv, Cloudflare, Viator, Booking.com, and Google.

6. Visitor Story Submissions: Retention, Sharing & Your Choices

When you submit a Visitor Story, your name, email, optional phone number, and story text are stored via Cloudflare Workers KV until a member of our team has reviewed it. Nothing you submit is published automatically.

• If rejected or unpublished: we aim to delete submissions we don't publish within a reasonable time of review. If you'd like a submission deleted sooner, email us (details in section 8) and we'll remove it.
• If published: your story, name, and the date are shown on the relevant place's page. Your email and phone number are never published — they are kept only for our internal records and are not shown on the site.
• Sharing with Scotreach: this site is owned and operated by Scotreach. Contact details you provide with a submission are shared with Scotreach so they can follow up with you if needed — for example, about your submission, or about a business you've mentioned. This is the same lead-handling process used across Scotreach's other websites.
• Removal: you can ask us to remove a published story, or delete your contact details from our records, at any time by emailing us. We'll action this without undue delay.

7. Data Security

We take appropriate operational and technical measures to protect your email address and messages from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
